What to Expect

This is 90 minutes of pure warmth. I use heated basalt stones alongside therapeutic essential oils to work deep into tired muscles without heavy pressure. The heat does a lot of the work, and the aromatherapy adds another layer of calm.

I place the stones on key points along your body, then use a combination of the stones and my hands to massage warmed, aromatic oil into your muscles. The heat penetrates deeper than hands alone can reach, loosening tension at a level that feels almost effortless. Meanwhile, the essential oils work through both your skin and your sense of smell, building on the relaxation.

It is my longest session and honestly, it is the one I would choose for myself. By the end, most people describe a feeling of being thoroughly unwound, as if warmth has reached places that tension had been hiding for months. Fair warning: you might not want to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

Who This Treatment Is For

If you have been bought a gift voucher and you are not sure what to pick, go for this. You will not regret it. It is a popular choice for birthdays, anniversaries, and those moments where someone just wants to treat you (or you want to treat yourself). The combination of warmth, scent, and the extra time creates something that stays with you long after the session ends. It also suits anyone who responds well to heat, who finds warmth relieves their tension more effectively than pressure alone, or who is drawn to the therapeutic side of essential oils. If you have tried Swedish massage and want to go further, this is the natural next step.

What the Combination Achieves

Each element does something different, and together they go further than any single technique on its own. The heated stones work as muscle relaxers: the sustained warmth opens up blood vessels, improves circulation to tight areas, and lets me work deeper into the tissue without needing heavy pressure. If you find deep tissue too intense but want more than a light Swedish massage, this is the middle ground where depth comes from heat rather than force.

The essential oils add another layer. Absorbed through your skin during the massage, they carry anti-inflammatory and calming properties directly into the tissue. Inhaled as the warm oil releases its scent, they influence your mood and nervous system. Lavender and chamomile for deep calm. Eucalyptus and peppermint to clear the head. I choose the blend at the start of each session based on how you are feeling that day, so no two appointments feel the same.

Before Your Session

This one works best when you can arrive feeling unhurried. If possible, do not schedule anything demanding straight afterwards. The 90-minute session leaves most people in a very relaxed state, and rushing back into a busy day can undo some of that benefit.

Important preparation notes: Please let me know when booking if you have any allergies, skin sensitivities, or conditions that may be affected by heat. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, or hot baths right before the appointment, as this can make your skin more sensitive to the stone temperature. Stay well hydrated beforehand. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, as the oils may leave a light residue on your skin afterwards.

On the day, arrive a few minutes early so the session can begin on time. With 90 minutes of treatment, every minute counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

The stones are heated to a carefully controlled temperature before I place them on your body. I always test them on my own skin first and check the temperature feels comfortable for you before continuing. The warmth should feel deep and soothing, never burning. If any stone ever feels too warm, just tell me and I will adjust it straight away.

I use high-quality, pre-blended therapeutic essential oils chosen for their specific properties. Common blends include lavender and chamomile for deep relaxation, eucalyptus and peppermint for clearing and refreshing, and ylang-ylang with bergamot for mood-lifting warmth. I pick the blend based on how you are feeling on the day.

I will talk through the available blends at the start of your session and recommend one based on what you would like to get from the treatment. If you have a preference for a particular scent or want to avoid anything specific, just let me know. I always check for allergies or sensitivities before applying any oils.

Hot stone massage is not suitable for people with certain conditions including varicose veins, open wounds or skin infections in the treatment area, recent surgery, or pregnancy. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or a heart condition, please mention it when booking so I can advise whether the treatment is right for you.
